Annemie Bogaerts

I am full professor at the University of Antwerp, Department of Chemistry, and I am head of the research group PLASMANT (Plasma Lab for Applications in Sustainability and Medicine – ANTwerp). I received my MSc and PhD degrees in Chemistry from the University of Antwerp, in 1993 and 1996, respectively.

My research focuses on the study of non-equilibrium plasmas, by modelling the plasma chemistry, plasma reactor design and plasma-surface interactions, as well as by experiments. The applications are situated in sustainable chemistry and energy/environmental applications (e.g., CO2 conversion into value-added chemicals, N2 fixation, CH4 conversion) and in plasma medicine (cancer treatment). I have an ERC Synergy Grant on plasma catalysis for small molecule conversion (electrification of chemical reactions) (SCOPE), together with G. Centi, V. Hessel and E. Rebrov. Within PIONEER, I am mostly involved in the study of CO2 conversion with H-source in microwave plasma, and in plasma catalysis, by modeling and experiments.
