- Development of adsorbents and heterogeneous catalysts for environmental protection. Examples include the development of nanocrystalline metal oxide and supported metal catalysts for the oxidative destruction of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and the development of hydrocarbon traps based on zeolites for the abatement of hydrocarbon emissions during the cold start of internal combustion engines in transport.
- Design of chemical processes for the valorization of waste tires and biomass. Examples include the catalytic pyrolysis of waste tires or biomass for the production of new renewable liquid fuels, the gasification of MSWs for energy production, and the design of novel catalysts for the production of synthetic natural gas from syngas.
